Scintam Engineering
Scintam Engineering Ltd delivers advanced maintenance solutions through its proprietary FastEDR (Fastener Electrical Discharge Removal) technology.
Profile
Founded in 2021 as a spin-out from the University of Nottingham’s Faculty of Engineering, Scintam Engineering Ltd delivers advanced maintenance solutions through its proprietary FastEDR (Fastener Electrical Discharge Removal) technology. FastEDR rapidly and non-destructively removes metallic fasteners –such as bolts, rivets and pins – using controlled electrical discharges, providing a safer, more precise and efficient alternative to traditional mechanical or thermal methods.
Developed in collaboration with Rolls-Royce, FastEDR is designed for high-value, safety-critical sectors including aerospace, nuclear decommissioning, and remanufacturing. It is particularly suited to confined spaces and delicate substrates where conventional removal methods are risky or impractical.
To date, Scintam has raised over £1 million in equity investment and secured more than £630,000 in grant funding to develop portable and CNC-integrated FastEDR systems. The company recently received additional funding to develop a universal robotic fixturing system, advancing automation for aero engine maintenance.
