Globally recognised and the recipient of numerous awards, PERFORMS is underpinned by a strong evidence base, with validation through peer-reviewed publications in high-impact medical journals.

Founded in 1991 by Professor Alastair Gale, PERFORMS originated as a research programme and became a spin-out from the University of Nottingham’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2021. Since its inception, PERFORMS has played a pivotal role in advancing radiological performance assessment and training worldwide.

To date, more than 2,000 radiologists have been trained through the programme, collectively interpreting over 2.4 million examinations. The PERFORMS team brings together leading international experts in medical imaging, cognitive science, and perceptual performance assessment. For over 35 years, PERFORMS has been dedicated to improving diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making, delivering measurable benefits for patient care.
