Profile

Founded in 2012 as a spin-out from the School of Biosciences, Azotic is an agricultural biotechnology company developing sustainable alternatives to synthetic fertilisers. The company enables key economically important crops to fix nitrogen directly from the air, reducing reliance on soil-applied nitrogen fertilisers while delivering significant economic benefits to growers and reducing environmental impact.

Built on more than 20 years of academic research, Azotic has become a global leader in nitrogen-fixing technology. Its flagship innovation is a patented strain of Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus, first commercialised in 2019 and now distributed globally in liquid and dry formulations from UK-based manufacturing and R&D facilities.
